Congratulations to Anna Berry! She was selected to the TGCA East/West All-State All Stars Team. Anna will compete in the East/West All Star game in July 2010. Only twelve 4A/5A volleyball players from the West region of the state of Texas. Way to go!

Congratulations to Anna Berry and Ashlyn Dibrell. Both made the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram All Area Team. Anna was selected to the 1st team and Ashlyn was selected to the 2nd team. Only 12 athletes were on the Star Telegram Super Team and Lamar had two! Great job girls!

The Varsity lost to Amarillo Tuesday night in three games. (Amarillo has gone on to qualify for the state tournament) Congratulations on a great season! We are so proud of all you accomplished this year.

Area Champions! Lamar is back in the Regional Quarterfinals after finishing in the Area round the last two sesasons. The Varsity defeated state ranked El Paso Franklin Friday night in Midland in 3 games! We had a great loud Lamar crowd. Thanks to all who made the trip.
 

The next round will be a rematch of last year's Area Round Playoff game vs. Amarillo. The match will be Tuesday night in Vernon at 5:00pm. (click for directions) See you there!

The Varsity defeated Richland tonight in 3 games to win the Bi-District Championship. Friday night the varsity will take on El Paso Franklin at a time and place to be determined. Check back for more details.

The Varsity will begin the play off season Tuesday night vs. Richland High School at Richland. The game will begin at 7:00pm. Come out and support the girls! Directions are listed in the "Maps" at the top of the page. (This will be the last local volleyball match of the season. The remainder of the playoffs will most likely be played in west Texas!)

Congratulations Varsity! By defeating Mansfield tonight, the varsity secured th 4-5A District Championship! Way to go Vikes! The final match of the year will be Tuesday against Martin. It will be Senior Night so stick around after the match to help us honor our seniors.

The Varsity defeated Arlington High in 5 games. The win puts the varsity 7-0 in district and 25-8 overall. Thanks to all the fans who came out to support the girls, and a special thank you to the Nichols and Shack 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams! We can't wait for you to be a part of the volleyball program at Lamar! All teams will be in action at Sam Houston Friday night.

All 4 teams rolled Tuesday night defeating Bowie. The Varsity also made its debut in the state rankings this past week. They were ranked 16th in last week's TGCA coaches poll, and 20th in Lone Star Volleyball's Top 20 Texas Teams. This week they moved up to 12th in the TGCA poll, and just fell out of the Lone Star Volleyball poll (as a result of some strong wins from other teams in the state)

The Varsity stayed undefeated in district by winning a close 5 game match against Mansfield Summit. The team showed a lot of character and fight to pull out the win on the road! Great job girls. The JV won in two decisive games to move to 2-1 in district. Great job girls!
Also, congratulations to Senior Mariah Dressel for being voted into the 2009 Lamar Homecoming Court. Mariah looked beautiful Friday night at halftime! Way to represent volleyball Mariah!

Congratulations to the JV and Freshman A teams! The JV finished 3rd in the Martin Invitaional JV Tournament, and the Freshman A team finished 2nd in the Martin Invitational Freshmen Tournament. Great job girls! The JV concludes their tournament season next weekend at Arlington High, and the Freshman A and B teams will be in action on September 26th at the Lamar Invitational.

The Varsity got back on track Friday night by defeating Mansfield Legacy in 3 straight games. The JV also defeated Legacy 2 games to 1.
Tonight the JV and Varsity only will play Plano at 6:00 and 7:00 at Lamar.
Friday night all teams travel to Arlington High to begin the district season. Good luck girls!

THANK YOU to all the volunteers who worked at the Arlington Invitational this weekend. What a great job everyone did to make the tournament run so smoothly at Lamar! We appreciate everything you guys do for our teams.
The Varsity finished in 2nd at the Arlington Invitational Tournament this past weekend. On Friday the team defeated North Crowley (16-3 at the time) and Denton Ryan. On Saturday, they defeated district opponent Mansfield in the semi-finals, and in the finals they lost to Southlake Carroll. Overall it was a great tournament.
Congratulations to Anna Berry selected tournament MVP, and Ashlyn Dibrell selected to the All-Tournament Team!

The Varsity continued to roll Tuesday night with wins against LD Bell and Colleyville Heritage. The two wins put the varsity's record to 13-5 in the preseason.
Ashlyn Dibrell had an outstanding night against Colleyville Heritage. She had 21 kills on 42 attempts with 0 hitting errors, and defensively she had 17 digs. Great job Ash!

The Varsity team had a great week of volleyball that included knocking off Marcus on Tuesday night. Then they finished tied for 7th in the Fraulein Volleyfest in New Braunfels. In the first round they defeated Leander, in the second round they defeated Dripping Springs, and they lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion San Antonio Reagan. On Saturday they defeated El Paso Franklin in the 5th place bracket, but lost in the semi finals to Georgetown. Three of their wins this week were against top 20 teams in the state of Texas. Great job girls!

The Varsity finished 3rd in the Consolation Division at the Duncanville Tournament of Champions this past weekend. The tournament started with a loss to Colleyville Heritage on Friday morning, but the team rebounded to win four matches in a row. The highlight Friday was a victory over Martin in two straight sets. On Saturday afternoon, the varsity lost a close match to Coppell, but rebounded with a great win over Clear Lake to finish the tournament with a 5-2 record.

Towel Fees
This year we will be collecting a towel fee from every athlete. Each girl will be required to pay a $10 towel fee per semester. For athletes that are only playing volleyball, they will need to pay $20, for athletes that will move to another sport 2nd semester, we will only collect $10 at this time. The second $10 will be collected second semester. Parents, please send cash or a check (made out to Lamar High School) for the appropriate amount as soon as possible.

Summer School/Tryout News
If you plan on taking summer school this summer, please contact Coach Wood kwood@aisd.net or wood6052@sbcglobal.net. Students will be able to do both summer school and tryout for volleyball, but the coaches will need to be aware of the situation before August 3rd. We will let each athlete know her ammended schedule based on what summer school session she is attending, regular or accelerated.

Congratulations to Devin Warren and Chelby Fallahay of the 2009 class. Both have received scholarships to continue their volleyball careers at the collegiate level. Devin will be attending Texas Weslyan in thefall, and Chelby will be attending Texas Western.
