Varsity Kate Wood, a 1995 Lamar graduate, was on the first Lamar volleyball team to reach the state playoffs. She attended Troy State University from 1995-1997 on a volleyball scholarship, where she was named to the 2nd Team All Conference her sophomore year. In 1997, she returned home to play at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1998, UTA was the Southland Conference Champions with a 19-1 conference record, and Kate received the Coaches Leadershiop Award. For the past eight years she has coached with North Dallas Juniors Volleyball Association. This is Coach Wood's eighth year as the JV coach at Lamar. She has been married to Brent for nine years, and together they have two children Ella (4) and Thomas (3).
Freshman A Andrea Ray graduated from Red Oak High School in 1996, where she was the setter on the 1995 State Championshiop volleyball team and was named the state MVP. Andrea was also named to the Texas State Girls Coaches Association All Star Team in 1996. She also played softball and ran track. Her senior year she was named as the district MVP and to the second team all area in softball. After high school, she attended Texas Wesleyan University on a volleyball scholarship. After playing at Wesleyan for four years, she stayed on to be the student assistant coach. She graduated in 2001 with a bachelor of science in Mass Communication. She is currently in her 7th year as the Freshman coach at Lamar. She has coached the past 7 years with Mid-Cities Volleyball Club and TAV.
Freshman B Ken Livingston graduated from Hanks High School (El Paso) and from University of Texas in Arlington in 1990, where her worked for the sports information department. He and his wife Louise have been married for 18 years and have 3 daughters Elizabeth(12), Brittany(9) and Kaitlyn(5). Ken has worked at Lamar High School for 14 years where he coached the basketball and softball teams. Ken is in his third year as the head softball coach. |
