Coach Wood

Kate Wood, a 1995
Lamar graduate, was on the first Lamar volleyball team to reach the
state playoffs. She attended Troy State University from 1995-1997
on a volleyball scholarship, where she was named to the 2nd Team All
Conference her sophomore year. In 1997, she returned home to
play at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1998, UTA won
the Southland Conference Champions with a 19-1 conference record,
and Kate received the Coaches Leadershiop Award.
For the past
eight years she has coached with North Dallas Juniors Volleyball Association.
Coach Wood coached eight years as the JV coach at Lamar, and is currently in her second year as Varsity coach. The 2008 team finished 2nd in district and was Area Finalists. She has
been married to Brent for eleven years, and together they have three children
Ella (6) Thomas (5), and Alice (newborn). |

Andrea Ray graduated
from Red Oak High School in 1996, where she was the setter on the
1995 State Championshiop volleyball team and was named the state MVP.
Andrea was also named to the Texas State Girls Coaches Association
All Star Team in 1996. She also played softball and ran track.
Her senior year she was named as the district MVP and to the second
team all area in softball. After high school, she attended Texas
Wesleyan University on a volleyball scholarship. After playing
at Wesleyan for four years, she stayed on to be the student assistant
coach. She graduated in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree in Mass
Communication.
Coach Ray has coached 7 years as the Freshman A
coach at Lamar, and is in her second year as JV coach. She has coached the past 8 years with Mid-Cities
and TAV Volleyball Clubs. This past season she coached TAV 15 Asics who won the the Junior Nationals 15 Open division. |

Cheryl Edwards graduated from Caprock High School in Amarillo and received a BS Ed in Pyscial Education and Biology from Abilene Christian Unversity. She has coached basketball, track, cross country, soccer, and volleyball in her career of 28 years in public education. Most recently, Coach Edwards 9th grade volleyball team won the Midland/Odessa championship in 1999. She then moved to Arlington where her 8th grade team at Young Jr. High won the city championship.
"Coach Eddie" then came to Lamar in 2001 and became a member of the volleyball staff last year as the Freshmen A coach. She is also currently the JV soccer coach. Coach Edwards has 2 children and 3 grandchildren who live in Las Vegas and Altus, OK.

Ken Livingston graduated
from Hanks High School (El Paso) and from University of Texas in Arlington
in 1990, where he worked for the sports information department.
He and his wife, Louise, have been married for 20 years and have
3 daughters: Elizabeth (14), Brittany (11) and Kaitlyn (7).
Ken has worked at Lamar High School for 16 years where he has coached
basketball and softball teams. Ken is in his 5th year as the head softball coach and 5th year as volleyball Freshman B coach. |
